18 October 2019 @ 10:30 am – 5:00 pm
A hike of 5.5km + 2Km. The first part from Chora to Syneti for a visit to the Folklore Museum. Then the second part from Dipotamata, through the valley with its many watermills, weather permitting, a detour (2Km) to the plateau of the Venetian Castle, Epano Kastro, and from there on to the picturesque settlement of Kochylou for a meal of local dishes.
From Chora, we descend towards Paraporti bay and then on an undulating route over the hills with lovely views to the east coast over Lidi beach. Following this, we will arrive at the tarmac road where a bus will be waiting to take us down to the hamlet of Syneti for a visit to the local folklore museum and a snack. From Syneti a bus will transport us over the short section of the main road to the entrance to Dipotamata valley where we will walk down the impressive cobbled path down to the riverbed with its arched bridge and stunning watermill ruins, enjoying the rugged landscape. We start to ascend towards the area of the Pano Kastro and if weather permits, the hike includes a 2 km detour to the Venetian Castle, Epano Kastro, to tour this archaeological site with magnificent views over the rural landscape of Korthi. The hike continues to the picturesque settlement of Kochylou.
